Food Security

Food security means all people at all times having access to adequate amounts of safe, nutritious, culturally appropriate food that is produced in a sustainable and environmentally sound manner, which promotes dignity for consumer and producer alike.

Information
The District of Sechelt, the Union of British Columbia Municipalities and Vancouver Coastal Health are funding food security initiatives by the Sunshine Coast Community Services and the Food Action Network.

The Sunshine Coast Community Services Society (SCCSS) manages the Food Bank and the Community Gardens. For more information visit the SCCSS website.

The Food Action Network is implementing recommendations from a Food Security Report. This report was funded by Vancouver Coastal Health and completed in June 2006. More information is available on the Vancouver Coastal Health website on Food Security.
