Residential Garbage

There will be no garbage collection on Friday, December 25, 2009. Impacted residences will be allowed double volume for pick up on Friday, January 1, 2010. Tuesday garbage and Monday recycling collections are not impacted by seasonal closures.

• Must be at curbside by 8am
• Is limited to ONE STANDARD GARBAGE CAN PER HOUSEHOLD
  (77 litres or 50 pounds maximum as determined by WCB regulations)
• Extra cans / bags will require garbage tags
• Garbage tags can be purchased from the Direct Disposal (604 885-4246) or from the Municipal Office.
  • $2 per tag for houses and units in mobile home parks
  • make sure the tag is easily visible on the bag / can
• Direct Disposal (604 885-4246) has the Garbage Collection Contract for the District of Sechelt effective March 1, 2002
• Sechelt Landfill (604 885-8289) is operated by the SCRD

District-wide Residential Curbside Recycling

This program provides single family residences in the District's garbage collection area with curbside collection of recyclables (using the blue bins provided). Contact Direct Disposal at (604) 885-4246 if you have any questions about the program.

Public Works : Water

The water supply system in the District of Sechelt is provided by the Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD). If you have questions about the water supply including sprinkling restrictions please contact the SCRD (604) 885-2261.

Public Works : Sewers

The District of Sechelt operates the sanitary and storm water sewer systems within its boundary. The sanitary sewer system includes the Ebbtide treatment plant, the Dusty Road Treatment plant and a network of collection pipes.
