Notice of Tax Sale

Public notice is hereby given that on Monday, September 29, 2008 at 10:00 am in the Community Use Room at the Library Building, 5797 Cowrie Street, Sechelt, BC; the Collector will conduct the annual tax sale.

The following parcels will be offered for sale by public auction if the delinquent taxes and interest are not sooner paid:

The tax sale is a public auction of properties within a municipality which have outstanding property taxes from two years prior to the current year.  The lowest amount for which a property may be sold at the tax sale is the upset price.  The highest bidder above the upset price will be declared the purchaser.  Any person, upon being declared the successful bidder, must immediately provide their name and address and pay in cash, money order, or bank draft the upset price of the property.  Failure to pay this amount will result in the property promptly being offered for sale again.  The balance of the bid must be paid in cash, money order, or bank draft by 2:00 pm on the day of the auction (September 29, 2008).  Failure to pay the balance will result in the property being offered for sale again a 2:00 pm the same day (September 29, 2008).

Prospective purchasers are hereby advised that any purchase of tax sale property will be subject to a one year redemption period by the registered owner.
