If a property within the District of Sechelt has delinquent taxes owing against it, the District will begin proceedings to recover those costs through its annual tax sale. The tax sale is a public auction held each year on the last Monday of September. At the time of a tax sale a list of all properties for auction is available from the District.
By statute, a Collector of a municipality must offer for sale properties that have delinquent taxes outstanding. Taxes are considered to be delinquent if they are unpaid for three years.
Please see the Tax Sales Information Circular in the Sechelt Public Document Library for more information.
